2nd year pool owner and I've been struggling to keep the pool clean.

Had been using test strips but but the bullet and just ordered a TF-100 test kit.

While I wait for that to come in, here is a picture of the latest test strip and a picture of the pool.

There's currently no chlorine reading and we have been focusing on getting the alkalinity and PH raised. There is a yellow substance in the bottom of the pool, which we have been brushing.

Any recommendations on order of chemicals to try and get things better?

Thanks in advance

To determine how much Chlorine is 5ppm, use pool math Link-->PoolMath

Configure your pool and it will help you with all your chemical additions.

Try to replicate these results in pool math. 64 ounces of 10% liquid chlorine will add 5ppm FC to your pool.

Looks much better overnight. Even after adding 5 ppm of liquid chlorine, the free chlorine is maybe 1 or 2. Should I still contine adding 5ppm of the luquid chlorine each day until the test kit comes or try to stabilize?

Yes. 5ppm per day.

Get that ladder out and start scrubbing with Bleach:Water solution. Scrub INSIDE and out.

What is that red thing floating?
