So its done this now 3 to 4 times. I just bought lube, and thought it was fixed, but today when the pump came on it was exploding water out like Niagara Falls. I seriously want to cry. My husband just left and I dont have money to fix anything....

Now I smell something like "electrical smoke".

HELP!!!!

First thing - turn-off any power to the unit. SAFETY first.

Are you saying it was leaking at the clear lid - the pump basket? Did that lid come-off or was it something else? The actual top-half of the filter housing?

Not sure what type of cartridge filter you have, but just in case it's a Hayward, here's a manual:https://www.hayward-pool.com/pdf/manuals/SwimClear-Cxx30-revB.pdf

Its the filter housing. When the power timer "clicks" to the "On" position, the filter housing explodes. I lubed the "O ring", the big black rubber tube that goes in between the lid and bottom.

Thanks for all the responses. So i undid, re-did the "belly band clamp" around the unit. That fixed the 1st problem- Of water flying out everywhere. But now the pump is not coming on. It hums then trips the breaker. Does that mean I need a new pump motor?
