Buena Park california
My name is Steve and I'm so glad I found you all. I live in California and am married with 2 kids and a bunch of their friends from cheer and basketball who love to swim. I have a guy who cleans my pool for now......and as soon as I feel I can keep my pool crystal clear and healthy for my family and friends--I'm getting rid of him!! Thank you all for welcoming me and I look forward to learning and contributing to this website abd meeting you all

Welcome aboard!

Today can be that day Steve. You don't have to get rid of him just this moment, but you ought to get a good test kit, and see what he is up to with your water. It will give you practice, and it's going to be your most important piece of equipment in caring for the pool when you fly solo. The most important thing you'll have to do that is knowledge, and you can start building it with the ABCs in Pool School. Everything you'll need is in there, or on the forum. A lot of people here started on their own much like you with a service and plenty never had one, just learning here before the pool was ever filled. Either way, we can help you get there, so let us know how we can do that. Enjoy your time on TFP!

Hey Steve, I'm a new pool owner and decided to do it all myself from the start and these people have been invaluable to building my confidence that I can do it my self. I'm still learning, and that's OK. The most profound thing I've read so far is that nobody will take better care of your pool then you will. That's been my basis for learning to do this on my own. Welcome.

Awesome! I agree with Patrick. Get yourself a good test kit that is recommended here and do some testing and figuring out what you would do with the results you get. When you think you've got a good handle on it, let him go and save yourself the money and have the satisfaction of knowing you can do it yourself. It's a great feeling when you have people over and they compliment how pretty your water is!

I stayed up way to late last nite checking this website out....just couldn't stop myself. Good nite and thanks again to everyone! My wife tells me all the time, "you surround yourself with good people and good things start to happen." And I'm feeling good.
