I'm a new owner of an old pool. Just learning how to take care of it myself. Steep learning curve but I'll push thru and figure it out. The pool is nothing fancy but that's fine for us. I've attached a photo of it and filled out my signature and profile if you want to get more details.

I found this site a few weeks and today I finally got around to registering.

Water balance has been challenging but I think I have it under control for now. That will probably change.
Main problems are several spots of plaster have delaminated on the wall and are all between 6" to 12" around roughly. I don't know the age of the pool plaster but it has likely been resurfaced once in its 40-50 year life--or maybe never.
The other problem is black algae on the walls. I brush but it doesn't help much.
We moved in earlier this year and I noticed an empty bucket left behind by previous owners that says algae control (or something similar?) so they've probably been dealing with this black algae (or maybe green) for a while. (See attached photo of black algae spotsMyPool.jpgMyPoolBlackAlgae.jpg.)
Otherwise, the pool is quite enjoyable. We've been using it since early April. The pool heater helps!

Very nice to meet all of you!
