Figured I'd introduce myself. I'm John from Orlando. First time pool owner. We should be starting the pool fill today and I've got the details in my signature. I really appreciate all of the great information on this site and immediately became a gold member. Looking forward to having a trouble free pool!

I am new pool owner, as well, up in Jacksonville. Pool was filled in July. TFP has been a great resource, and I have had crystal clear clean water (once I got the iron out). I can provide you with a link to that, if needed.

Check your water meter at the beginning and the end of fill to get a pretty accurate estimate of your pool volume. You may need to subtract a little for home use but its a great opportunity to get an extremely close estimate.

That was such a great tip. According to the meter the pool & spa are only 10500 gallons so 12% smaller than my estimate. Super helpful to know!

After the startup period,
As you begin to add things that don’t degrade- like calcium, salt, & cya- do so in stages so you don’t overshoot your target.
Add 3/4 of what
PoolMath calls for - wait 24 hours then test, repeat until your target is reached.
Be sure you know what startup process you’re builder is using (what is recommended for your particular finish) so you can ensure the steps are followed.
