Hello, I found your site by way of looking for a new liner. Last year at closing I encountered algae the first time in 5 years. My only problems before where fighting with a cloudy pool due to not enough FC. So short story short I'm frustrated with the expensive store bought chemicals. I'm trying to find a better and more affordable alternative and debate to get a new liner since it pulled away from the wall which I think is my source combined with not enough of the correct chemicals, is where my algae came from.

So my question along with the pool calculator. Would you all help.

The first thing we advocate for is home testing of your water with a quality test kit.

I would suggest first reading a few things in PoolSchool--> ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry and Pool School - Recommended Pool Chemicals

I've been reading all that you've suggested, which I have soooo many questions you all be like ugh. Lol, but seriously, first dumb question where and what test kit do I get. I've been buying the one for chlorine/PH. Second, what is the difference between Walmart bleach and liquid chlorine? And which one is better. What do you all suggest? I have to scrub my liner and try and see if I can get it back in the channel. If not then it's a new liner ugh and all new hoses to start fresh and no algae.

Bleach and liquid chlorine are the same thing. Difference is simply the percentage of liquid chlorine in the jug. Grocery store bleach is probably 6 or 8 percent and you can find liquid chlorine at 10 and 12 percent
