Hello to all,

I’m Allen. I am new to this website but have had a pool for a long time. You need one with the hot summers we have in Sacramento. The pool is about 18,500 gallons with a vinyl liner. We had a pool guy for a long time. He retired. Before that, I used to maintain the pool with a simple water tests kit. After the pool guy we thought we would take a crack at doing the maintenance ourselves again. We got a pool cleaning robot and have been making weekly pilgrimage to Leslie for water tests. That worked until this summer. Now I get the water test done and add the chemicals only to retest the next day and nothing changed. For instance, I added two gallons of chlorine Friday and the Sunday test says there is only 0.14ppm chlorine in the pool. Or, the water tests will tell me to add two pounds of dry acid and, you guessed it, a day later the new test says add two pounds again. We have dumped more chemicals in this pool this year than I can ever remember needing to. It’s driving me bonkers. So this seems like the right time get re-educated on the care and feeding of our pool. I’m going to order a Taylor kit (thinking TF-Pro???) and go to Pool School. I’m sure I will be asking some questions in the forums, as well.

I’ll be seeing you all around the forum!

Hi Allen! I’m also here in Sacramento. If you’d ever be interested, I’d be happy to stop by and share my experiences. After several months of following TFP’s guidance my pool is pretty effortless at this point.

Hey thanks! I appreciate the offer. Perhaps sometime in August?

Sure, I'll be back from some traveling in mid-August, would be happy to stop by and see what your setup looks like. I'll bring my kit along and we can take some readings! Please just message me here sometime after the 13th.
