Hello! I’m a new pool owner and just stumbled across this site a handful of days ago and wow, what a resource! Our pool isn’t new, but we bought a house last fall that came with a pool and we’re very excited to get it opened up. Obviously in Minnesota, our pool season is roughly May through September, but a heater goes a long way. ;)

Anyway, I’m excited about learning how to manage and maintain my pool on my own. But now for my tail of woe. Previously to buying this house with the pool, I’ve had three friends who owned pools. Two had chlorine pools and the other was a saltwater pool. The pool that came with our house was chlorine, but we knew we wanted to convert it over to saltwater. Asking the only folks I knew, none of them had a clue how to convert it over and we all assumed it was complex and expensive. So not wanting to mess anything up, I had a local company take care of it. They installed an IntelliChlor IC40 and then I had to get someone to install the power center. Then, one week later, I found this website. Oh man... I had no idea it was that easy to install a SWG?! I could have saved, oh, around $1000. ?

Regardless, I’ve learned a ton in a short time and I feel much more knowledgeable for figuring out the next set of issues that may come up. I’ve also gotten some great recs here for pool cleaning bots because wow, is it confusing to do a random internet search to figure that stuff out.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and say what a great resource this place is! I wish I’d found it a month earlier! ? Thanks!

Hey Kristian- all is not lost for that money. You get a warranty on the work from them, right? It was one less task for you to handle.....lets be positive, okay?

Welcome to TFP :) Stick around and you'll learn so much you'll save money by NEVER going in to a pool store again!
