I became a primary care taker of a household, inground pool after my dad passed in 2020. It is my childhood home and I have been doing basic pool maintenance as long as I can recall from my youth. We have been back and forth to various pool stores lugging water samples only to feel like we have been wasting money and not enjoying the pool. I need advice to help care for an older pool that has a brand new filter, pump and heater and made a post wondering if I have algae or if it needs to be remarcited. I would be dumbfounded if the algae can grow with FC at 10+ ppm, but that’s why I’m here. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Pool store testing is generally wrong. If we made recommendations based on pool store testing, we could do more damage than good.
Add 3ppm PER DAY of liquid chlorine until your test kit arrives. Nothing else.
When you get it, do this test. It will tell us if you have algae. Link-->Overnight Chlorine Loss Test
Post a full set of results and we'll get you going.
