Just wanted to introduce myself. I am brand new to pools, So new that I don't even have one yet. I am signing a contract to have a gunite pool installed. I have just started looking at all of the vast knowledge on this site and can already tell that I'm going to be in over my head pun intended. But I look forward to the deep dive of learning the in's and out's of pool ownership.

F3,

Show us any contract before you sign and maybe we can make some suggestions before it is too late.

Kind of like knowing your shoe size, before you buy the shoes...

Thanks,

Jim R.
I only have the proposal right now, please let me know if any thing stands out. I have already asked for 2 skimmers instead of 1.

F3,

I love the fact that you will be upgrading to two skimmers, each independently plumbed back to the equipment pad.

I love the fact that you are going with a saltwater pool...

I love the fact that you are going with a large Cartridge filter..

I'd vote to go with a larger HP VS pump. Something closer to 3 HP... Now is the time to do it, and the additional cost is not much compared to the overall cost of a pool.. The larger the pump, the slower you can run it and still move a lot of water.. The larger the pump the quieter it will be when running at a lower speed. Don't let the pool builder tell you it is overkill, as there is no such thing when it comes to VS pumps..

Let's see what our other members have to say...

Thanks,

Jim R.
