I am in the process of adding a SWG (Pentair Ichlor 30) to my in-ground plaster pool. When wiring the power unit to the power control center, the instruction manual says to wire it to the “pump side” of the relay. With the power off, of course, do I just trace the “line side” power cables from the pump’s circuit breaker up to the relay, and then tap into the power cables on the pump side of that same relay? Thanks for any direction/advice.

STOP!!! You need a much different SWCG. The iChlor is way too small for your 30000 gallon pool! You need an IC 60.

Welcome to TFP!

You would need to run the IC30 at 100% for 24 hours per day to barely keep up with chlorine demand in the summer time in Las Vegas.
We always recommend a SWG rated for at least 2x your pool volume.
As Marty stated: "You need an IC60."

Thank you for the reply, and valuable advice! After your advice and a couple hours of additional research, I have upgraded to the IC 60. It's a shame that Pentair advertises the iChor 30 as a unit that works with a pool up to 30,000 gallons, when it clearly does not. Oh well, lesson learned and thanks again!

One more thing before you self install. Check the warranty. Pentair is really stingy with self installed hardware warranties. You might find you're out of warranty in 90 days, vs years with install by a Pentair authorized professional. Look around here at IC failures. Mine was installed by an authorized dealer in June 2021. It failed last fall. First the comm with the Intelliconnect and then while I was waiting for the technician, the whole cell failed. Covered by warranty.
