I'm in Florida and have been trying to take of my own pool for about 6 months now. We had the pool installed when we moved here 8 years ago and had someone else taking care of it. We decided to take on the care ourselves after our original guy moved and we had a hard time finding someone who did a comparable job.
It was a little overwhelming at first but I think we're getting the hang of it. I hope to learn a lot from all of you veterans!

Pool care by owners can be far superior to that which an outsider performs. Cost savings alone are enormous, but so is water quality and protection of equipment and pool.
