Hey there, I'm Dave from Austin. I have been a pool owner for almost 5 years now. I knew nothing about pools when I first started, but I have learned a lot from this forum and other places on the net. I went through about 4 pool companies and was "shocked" (see what I did there? lol) at how many pool services there were out there and how bad most of them are! I finally decided that I was going to to this myself. My only apprehension to this is the fact that I'm color blind so testing water was going to be a challenge. I know a pool person who helps with that and after lots of trial and error (draining pool once etc.), I think I'm pretty comfortable with it. I have easily learned about pool pumps and filters and continue to do all the service and maintenance myself, but I do run into problems now and again and for that, places like this are invaluable.
