Hello from an excited Newbie in Bixby Oklahoma!!

Sorry for the long wait. We are having a bumpy go of it. Prayers for peace, resolution and no further problems would be appreciated.

Deck was installed last weekend. They have to come back to finish it. The color is uneven, there's a bunch of bad areas and some cracks. Other than these issues, it is beautiful overall. If they can get these things fixed, I'll be happy. I know nothing is ever perfect so I'm trying to scale back my expectations.

My beautiful Lightstreams tile was installed on Wednesday. I LOVE IT!!! They have to come back and fix the grout in a few spots where the white mortar shows through.
Tile guy accidentally tracked white mortar on my unsealed deck and left mortar wash water all over the deck.

My waterline tile was made level but the grout lines are still terrible. They poured the deck anyway. So much for promises.

I have not not paid for the deck yet. They won't get paid until I'm happy or we reach a resolution that I feel is fair.

The story I had promised:

I was at work when the deck forming and pouring took place. Hubby sent me probably 50 pictures plus several videos of the work in progress.
The area around the spa is very thick due to our yard having a slope. Well, these geniuses braced the concrete forms against my neighbor's fence behind the spa. Can you guess where I'm going with this?
The forms didn't hold, the concrete flooded under and they broke my neighbor's fence. It's been a fun week. Not. However, they will have their fence guy out to fix it when final grading is completed.

Not ot sure when the deck will get fixed since it has been raining and it is supposed to continue all week.

Enjoy the pictures!

Oh wow, what craziness! Sorry you had to deal with all of that!! Your decking looks great though and that tile...BEAUTIFUL!! We just got our decking done last week, so looks like we are about where you are :) We might be getting our glass tiles installed on our tanning ledge and steps today, wish they looked like yours!! What area do you work in? I'm a nurse too...with babies :)

Lets just all sit back and enjoy the pretties :sun: ahhhhhhhhhh that is awesome! At least they got one thing right.

How much cement got into the neighbors yard? Or did their fence stop it before it got there? Really? You are going to prop on that fence and expect it will hold back ALL of that cement????

nini, during this hard time. I know the stress is heavy in your heart. You are going every thing right-withholding money until it is done right. Good job!

Now back to looking at the BLING!

Thank you! You will probably be done before me! I'm hoping for July at this point. At least the weather here hasn't been super hot yet which has made the waiting easier. And, yes, TOTAL CRAZINESS!!

You have a special gift to take care of babies. I would be crying continually. My heart couldn't take it. I work in medical ICU. Many outcomes are very sad, some tragic but easier to handle because they are "big people".

Hubby said not much got into her yard. Since I didn't see it, I don't know what "not much" means. She's a great neighbor and I hate that this happened, but better with a neighbor we like than with the one on the other side that we don't ;)

That bling IS nice....

I love your deck! That came out so nice! Sorry about the cracks but hopefully they can be fixed...

Is there any structural concerns with that much cement on the back end? I couldn't tell if there was enough rebar or not.

I love the tile and decking also! I hope that they finish in time for the 4th of July :)

Thank you! You and me both! However, I'm not holding my breath...

Gosh, I don't know...I wasn't here and neither hubby nor I know the first thing about structural stuff like that...now I'm worried....

Denise, that LS tile is gorgeous! And I also think your deck looks great! Can you make them fix the waterline tile? Take a picture so we can see how it looks now with the deck.

Thank you, Marla! I'm super thrilled with it!
Unfortunately, now that the deck is poured, it's too late to do anything further to the waterline tile. We are going to have a conversation about it.

Here's a picture like you requested. The tile is dirty and still has adhesive residue from the protective barrier they put over it when they poured the deck. And the deck color is off...

Cant figure out out why they are sideways...

Oh nini! My heart aches for you. You have really been through the ringer. I am so very sorry you had to go through this. Your husband did a great job with the pictures and videos. And that's great documentation, too. The deck really does look terrific. And the glass tile...... Oh my but you have great taste!!! (heeheehee  ) On your pool the LS glass looks extra special; I think because you are so special. Just wait until the plaster guys do the acid wash which sparkles up those glass tiles from the messy gunk the tile guys left on them (at least they were messy with mine).

I'm hoping once the water is in and all is done, the waterline tile won't be as much of an issue. (it is the problem of even grout lines, right?) I was in the pool the day it was warm (before it went back down to 70) and was thinking how so many little things I thought were a problem or not the best didn't really show at all. I do hope it's the same for you.

You're doing a great job and have been all along! It will all work out. You've got too many people pulling for you!!!

Love and hugs,
Suz

Thank you, Suz, my sweet friend! I just fell in love with the way those Peacock LS tiles looked on your pool. I wish I could have copied your stone and tiles but it just wasn't to be. Your choices are my taste to a tee! So, we are quite alike!

You all are so encouraging!! I delayed posting because I am so tired of posting negative events and have really been quite depressed over the whole thing. Suz, I hope you are right about not noticing. Right now it's hard not to notice 1/8" grout lines next to1/4" lines next to 1/2" lines. The deck coloring is really bad. I walked it again this evening. They just HAVE to make it better! This is something that I can not live with.

Do you have an appointment to talk to the PB about the work done?

I like how they cut the deck. Will they be putting something in the cuts to keep dirt and stuff out? What color should it be?

So I am guessing the tile fella did not use the spacers? I would love to ask him how his mom would feel about his work? hehe

No, they won't be putting anything in the score lines. Those are patterned to look nice and I believe the idea or the hope is they will guide any cracks. I like them too. Except around the tanning ledge where they made one too many squares. Not sure how they will fix that...

Haven't made an appt yet. I want him out when the deck is dry so we can walk it and he can see it. We have had rain almost daily (except the weekend when I'm at work). Some of the problems are not so visible when the deck is wet.

Tile guy claims he did the best he could with what he had to work with...
