Hello from an excited Newbie in Bixby Oklahoma!!

Your pool, spa, and deck are gorgeous. Even after hearing your regrets over certain items, I am hard pressed to even see them. And I'm a detail guy.

I would recommend you get some plaster in that thing so you can use it . . . (Ducking and running for cover) . . . :)

Pool clean up is supposed to be tomorrow

i am supposed to lay out my trim tiles tomorrow night after work so the tile guy can mortar them in place on Sat.
Equiptment set is supposed to be tomorrow
Electrical and plaster is supposed to be Monday
Acid wash and fill is supposed to be Tuesday.
We will see....

Thank you for all the kind comments and for taking the time to look.
I'm working a ton and trying to pop in here and there.
I promise to respond to all the comments and PMs as soon as I can.

Did my first test tonight on the fill water from the hose.

If I did it correctly, these are my numbers:

TC 2 (from taylor K-1000)
pH 7.8- 8.2 (or higher)
FC 1.5-2
CC 1-1.5
TC 2.5-3.5
CH 100
TA 140
CYA 0 (filled the tube all the way up, dot got a bit smaller but never went away-tried twice)

Working the next 5 days...

Water looks good! That won't be hard to work with at all, and great to have a go with the kit!

You won't find CYA in tap water. It's used in swimming pools for FC protection from the sun, to buffer the chlorine for variations in bather load, and to soften the "harsh" part of the chlorine. That test will come into play and be very important after you start chlorinating. :)

Thanks, jet! That's reassuring!
Gotta say, that Speed stir is fantastic!
I also stuck a thermometer in it- we are at 80 degrees from the hose and that was after running the water for a while to hose off the deck.

Write those numbers down and tape them to the top of your box for future reference. They will come into play when you have to add water to your pool later.

I cannot remember if I have shared this with you yet or not so I can doing so just in case.

Make sure to ask any and all questions you might have no matter how small! We have all been where you are at one point.

I sure do hope the time line holds up! WOW! It is finally happening for sure now!

Nini, your pool is beautiful. I can tell you've put your heart and soul into it..:) Thank you for sharing your painful journey to paradise with us. I may be a little late to the build party, but wow, I can so feel your pain! When we had our first pool built 24 years ago, we had a similar build experience. I'm very much a planner, and it drives me nuts to see beautiful days wasted, with no progress on the project. We are about to embark (I think) on our next one, and I can still feel the frustration of that experience, and it's really making it hard to pull the trigger.

I know many have told you once it's done, you'll forget all about the delays, wierd things that happened, etc, because you'll have that beautiful space that you put so much of yourself into. They are definitely right, at least until you start planning another project..;) I hope you have many happy years with your cement pond. And I can't wait to see it all done for you..:)

Work was CRAZY this weekend...wish I could share but...HIPAA and all...

Plaster got moved to Tuesday because it rained on Friday. Equipment was set on Friday. I, of course, was not here to make my opinions known about how it should be placed. *sigh* The filter is behind the pipes next to the pumps. It's gonna be a whole lot of fun for me to get the lid off and clean those grids. Plus it looks like the backwash shoots straight at my heater...

I got up early this morning to set out my trim tiles. It took 3 solid hours for me to lay them out and measure the spacing. I think it turned out pretty good. Tile guy was here and did a pretty good job of setting the tiles where and how I placed them.

Electrical was done today. They almost installed the wrong panel but it was caught in time. They also kindly replaced our AC breakers that keep tripping. I'm going to call their boss tomorrow and S exile them to come back and do some extra stuff for us such as replace a couple of can lights in the kitchen, fix an outlet on our patio, and install a couple more outlets for us. We are considering a whole house serge protector but that's about $1000 or more. I'm sure it's worth it but it might need to wait. I had requested they put an outlet at the equipment pad but they didn't do it, so maybe they plan to do that when they come back to do the outlets in the yard.

We had 2 runs of grey electrical conduit placed under the deck out to the back of the yard so we could have a couple of outlets in the landscaping. Well, when they did the plumbing fixtures on Friday with the equipment set, one of those pipes was replaced with plumbing pvc. PB has not contacted me to tell me anything. I have no clue what they are doing. I told th electrician this morning about it. I also told him it is supposed to be an outlet. I left for work this afternoon before I could get an answer about what is going on with the pipe. PB was supposed to come speak with electrician but he hadn't been by before I left.

Tonorrow is plaster!! I can hardly believe it! Wednesday is acid wash and fill. Almost done!!

Like the way you arranged all the trim tiles. I didn't have any say about mine. They came out ok but there are very few of them compared to yours. Can't wait to see how your pool looks with plaster and then water,

Good luck with the plaster tomorrow.

Regarding those whole house surge protectors, I installed two. A larger one on my main service panel to protect all my electronics, and a smaller one on my pool sub panel for added protection of the VS pump and other pool equipment. Total cost for both..less than $150 and a couple hours of my time. $1000 seems ridiculous. Buy them yourself and look for someone else to install, if hubby isn't a DIYer.

But, if you have VS pump(s) you really do need to protect them.

If you don't mind me asking, what is that grey/black capped cylinder in front of your pump?

I've really been enjoying the build thread - I'm sorry you've had so many setbacks, but I'm sure you're glad to be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! :(
