I am a frustrated month long green pool owner. I described in detail when I signed on here. Waiting for it to be read & released so I hope I can finally clear it up & close my pool before the winter comes. Thank you!! Attached is this morning & reports DAY 1 & Day 30.

I assume those numbers are from pool store testing? If they are accurate, and a big if, that CYA level of 149 is way, way too high. At the level you're chlorine is just not gonna work, especially only at 11.
I'm afraid you're only real recourse is to drain the pool and refill. Then get yourself a reliable test kit (TFtestkits.net or Taylor k2006). Look at this page and use pool math to calculate your chemical additions. PoolMath. Study this page: The Free Chlorine and Cyanuric Acid Relationship

I suspect this is not what you want to hear but, if those numbers are accurate, I see no other course.

Hopefully others get can give you more specific step by step instructions - this is easy too early for me, thanks you very much dogs🙄. Good luck.

I appreciate your honesty & I have been afraid that would be the outcome. My only issue is that it's the end of the season. I have no problems partially draining the pool ( I think 70%) the recommended level. It is a 15,000 gallon vinyl pool with a sand filter). But, what harm will it do to close up the pool & address this issue in May? The pool is in Ohio. It just seems like I should postpone expense, next season. But don't want to damage pool? Yes, numbers are from the pool store. But, they don't try to sell me more products. They just have thrown their hands up. Should I get testing done at several other pool stores? Just to check CA accuracy? I priced the self testing kits..and while I don't mind the price...I'm more concerned about my ability to test myself. THANK YOU for your input!! Grannie

I find the Combined Chlorine reading to be suspect because you have algae that would be acted on by the Free Chlorine causing Combined Chlorine.
Since I don't know what that means..it unfortunately puts me at the mercy of store testing, until I can afford a test kit of my own. As noted in thread my CA is way to high & I'm not opposed to drain pool ( 70%) it's vinyl..I can't completely drain. I just would prefer to do it next spring. It seems cost wise a better option ..unless closing while green will damage things. I believe it is getting a lighter green..but cloudy since my original post...not sure if I should add clarifi to see if cloudiness will go away . Thank you .Sandie
