Heater reading higher than actual temperature

Hello. I have a PentAir Master Temp 400 Heater. It definitely turns on, however, my panel is reading the water temperature at a much higher degree than the pool actually is. For instance, pool water about 60-65 panel reads 78-80. The air temperature is accurate.

I ordered a water temperature sensor today and thought I would try this inexpensive try.

Is there anything else I should be looking for? I am no pool professional but am quite handy and willing to learn and try to fix it myself.
Any help and advice is very much appreciated.

Donna

Try swapping the air temp with the water temp. They are usually the same probe. If it reads correctly after the swap, just get a new temp probe.
