I'm a new pool owner and eager to enjoy my pool. The pool itself and equipment are installed but we're still waiting on the deck and fence and a few finishing touches. Gas to the heater was recently connected and I wanted to warn the pool for use. Initially the heater had no power but after opening up the intellicenter panel I saw that the heater power runs through Aux 2 relay. Any ideas as to why this is wired this way? I was able to get it power and use local control to heat the pool but curious why the installer did this.

I see no real purpose in controlling the AC power to the heater using the IntelliCenter..
Obviously, the IntelliCenter should control if the heater turns on or not, so it can control the temperature of the water, but this is done without controlling the AC to the heater.
If this were my pool, there AC to the heater would be wired directly to a circuit breaker.

Thanks for the quick response and the sanity check. I'll talk to the installer Monday and see what they say and get them to install the low voltage control wire too.
