Heater Firing But Spa Not Warming

The Pentair Mastertemp 400 is firing and stays lighted. However, water to the spa doesn’t seem to be heating. (It may not be heating the pool either, but is more difficult to determine.) Cleaned filters last weekend. Jets are working fine, but incoming water is nearly the same temp as the spa and pool. Won’t go above 75. Not throwing any error codes.

The only thing I can think of that changed between the last time we used it in the fall and now is that the regulator had to be replaced.

Any troubleshooting ideas?

Thanks!

First thought is a valve is misset. Can you post pics of your equipment and valves?

Thanks for confirming one of my thoughts, ajw. I thought maybe one of the actuators failed, but they seem to be working ok. Pictures posted, but it’s really hard to tell what’s what. At least I think it looks like a bowl of rigatoni! I really appreciate your response. 982579825898260

Looks like you have a valve actuator either turned off, or has quit working. That valve actuator (in front of the pump) is stuck in the pool position. A good way to check is, when you are in spa mode, water should eventually stop flowing over the spillway. If you continue to get water flowing, that indicates that the pump is drawing water from the pool when it should be drawing from the spa.

We need pics that show all the equipment and pics that let us follow where the different layers of pipes run from and to.

Both your actuators are in non-standard positions.

Suction actuator is not moving. It is either turned off, or has died. That is the problem. Spa water wont heat at the rate it should if it is always pulling water from the (cooler) pool. Return actuator is turning correctly leaving the spa side partially open when in pool mode. this allows some of the return water to flow to the spa to keep it clean.
