Heat pump size??

So i currently have a 14x28 3-6ft pool, and i want to get a heat pump for it, since everything i got is hayward i rather stay with them, now looking at their heatpump line their 140k btu heat pump is only $200 more than their 125k and they share the same COP which is $200 more than the next smaller one, my question is, is there a reason not to get their biggest heat pump (140k btu) and get a smaller one instead?

No reason, always get the biggest heat pump you can as long as it fits, you can afford it and the electric service can support it. It costs the same to heat your pool from temp A to temp B no matter the heat pump size. The bigger one will heat it faster.

When buying a heater there is no real need to stay with the same brand as all your other pool equipment. Heaters are simply on or off for the most part and have little no external automation.

I'm going to echo what pooldv said and say get the biggest one you can support. Make sure you have the right sized electrical service for the heat pump you buy. The electrical line needs to be sized to maintain minimal voltage drop while the unit is running. A 140kBTU heat pump will pull around 40 amps @ 220volts continuously. Read the installation instructions to verify the requirements for the unit you end up getting.
