We have a 13 year old UltraTemp 120 heat pump (came with the house we moved to 4 years ago). It’s definitely on its last legs - had some problems with the fan not going on last year (low refrig alarm sometimes came on, but usually a manually push on the fan would get it going and stay on and actually heat).

I just turned off the power / breaker at the pool equipment subpanel in order to clean the salt cell and filter. After turning it back on, there’s no power showing up at the heat pump. The display stays dark, pressing buttons doesn’t do anything. A similar thing happened when our pool company opened the pool, but toggling the power once or twice got it turned on.

Does anyone have any easy (free) tips on what might get the power / display back on? Some trick with turning power on / off / holding buttons / etc? At this point in the season, we don’t really need to heat, but it’s nice to see the current temperature and know we could use it if we wanted.

If it seems hopeless, any tips on the best time of year to get a good deal on a new heat pump would be appreciated.

Did you ever manage to figure out the issue? Let us know and we can try to tag some folks who use heaters regularly for help.
Nope. Still just in denial and not touching the heater since it’s warm enough without it. If anyone has some ideas, I’d love to hear them. Thanks!
