I have a Hayward SP-570 underwater light and the color changing LED bulb I bought from Amazon just failed (over half of the blue LEDs). I bought a new LED bulb from Florida Sunseekers and the lens gasket they sent did not fit, so I reused the old one and of course it leaked. I went to my local pool supplier and the only gasket they had was an SPX0580Z2 which was substantially thicker than the original SPX0540Z2 (very similar to the one I got from Florida Sunseekers) and the band clamp is no where near wide enough with my SP-570 trim ring. I went back and they found me a clamp for the 580 and it was indeed a little wider than the original so I assumed they made it wider to accommodate the thicker gasket, but no, still not close.
So I have three options:
A - go to another supplier tomorrow and find an original SPX0540Z2 gasket
B - take my 570 trim ring and compare it to a 580 trim ring to see if the mating surface is thinner to accommodate the clamp
3 - replace the light housing with something compatible with my niche so I don't have to try to find parts for a 40 year old part
If anyone has had a similar experience I would love to hear from you!
Oh, almost forgot "fresh water only"... does that mean "bad" as I just switched to salt???
Thanks!
Ed
