Hayward Super Pump VS settings

Hello,

I am new to the forum. We opened our pool this week and installed a new Hayward Super Pump VS. I was hoping to get some help with programming the speeds. Our local utility company is changing their electrical rates for the summer months based on the time of day. 'Off peak' rates are from 7pm to 7am, 'on peak rates' are from 7am to 1pm and 'super peak' rates are from 1pm to 7pm. Obviously they are trying to discourage electrical use in the middle of hot summer afternoons.

1) Should I set my pump for rpm's or % power?
2) The pump can be set to run between 600 rpm and 3450rpm. What is the lowest setting I should use during peak electrical rates?
2) What rpm/power setting should I use to maximize energy efficiency during 'on peak' and 'off peak' periods? My plan was to leave the pump running 24/7.

Thanks,

Mark

Just to give you an idea how I run mine.
6am to 10am 2700rpm-“clean mode”
11am to 2pm 1500rpm- “filter mode”
6:30pm to 9:30pm 1500rpm- “filter mode”

Set your pump run times according to your on/off peak hours, and shut it down during super peak times.
Set your pump in rpm mode, and turn down the factory setting of 8min prime, to 5mins.

Here in AZ, my regular off peak are 6pm to 3pm, and super peak is 3pm to 6pm.

You need to figure out the lowest flow setting for your pump that will still allow your SWG to function. Add 100rpm to this and then figure out how long you need to run your pump to produce enough chlorine for your pool. Add some bonus increase flow times if you want 1-2 hours of improved skimming.

Thanks for your input! This pump should help with my utility bill's this summer. Super-peak power rates at $0.253/kWh with off peak being at $0.063/kWh.

What is the difference between 'clean mode' and 'filter mode'? I read the manual and did not see any reference to this.

Thanks,

Mark

Those are the names I gave them. You can program your run times with any name in the settings. Just scroll through the options under the name settings, and choose whatever fits what you’re doing.

Here’s what are rates are depending on time of year.
