Hayward Super Pump Problem

Hi All;

Had heavy storms in our area last evening with lots of debris in pool. Pump came on this morning and probably ran with low pressure for an hour or so.

Now pump motor turns on and then immediately turns off and then back on continuing this sequence with a clicking sound.

Help!

Check your skimmer and pump baskets. If OK then cut power to pump and check impeller.

OK, thanks for the reply!

Had already cleaned pump basket, there were pine needles in the impeller area that have been cleaned out. Impeller does turn but pump motor still going on and off as described before.

Other suggestions welcome!

If your suction side is clean and your filter is not plugged, then sounds like an electrical issue. Above my pay grade. Need a member of the forum with more electrical know how or you need to call an electrician tomorrow.

You might search superpump and clicking. See if that dredges up anything.

Sounds like the motor centrifugal switch may have lost a spring or the contacts are dirty.

Yes, I think it may be electrical as the impeller is clean as I pulled the motor to make sure the impeller was clean.

It now runs but it's like it's running at half speed and the pressure is 1/2 of normal at about 10 psi.
