Ok - unfortunately I King Konged The threaded adapters in my new multiport valve and found out I cracked them. Totally my fault despite having the instructions right in front of my face. Hayward is sending me a replacement valve - so this doesn't happen again - I've seen people use the following

Permatex #2
Blue monster pipe dope
Just teflon tape
Bead of silicone caulking

What have any of you done - I was thinking the pipe dope because it is safe with the valves PVC.

Directions say Permatex # 2 and I'm ok with that but how do i apply it? just put a bead on the threads and screw it in hand tight plus 1 revolution?

any and all advise is helpful.

Thanks!!!

Pentair has a label on some MPVs saying to use Plasto-Joint Stik only and not Teflon paste or pipe dope on the threads. Take the Plasto-Joint Stik and drag it across the threads as you rotate. Pentair also says to tighten hand tight, plus 1 1/2 turns maximum.

Why are you using threaded adapter? If you need to replace the valve, you will have to replumb. I would use proper unions...with o-rings...Pentair, Hayward, Jandy and CMP make very good unions.

You should also use HIGH TEMP unions on your pump and heater.
