Hayward Pump- longer cord? Or extension cord?

Hi all,
We currently have a Hayward Pump, it's a 1515 power flow matrix. I can grab the exact model number if need be. My question is, do they make longer cords? Ours is currently the one that came with it and it's short. It does plug in fine to the outlet, but could definitely use more length. The reason we are wanting a longer cord is because we have a very naughty pup who loves to chew and I am afraid he will chew thru that cord. So my thought was to get a longer cord and run it thru some PVC and up to the outlet, to protect it. If that makes sense. Or would an extension cord work better? we do plan on getting a pool timer for our pump as well.
Thoughts?

NEC limits the cord length of a plug in pump to 3 feet. 680.21(A)(3)

You will not find cords from manufacturers longer then the NEC allows.
