Hi all,

Since a few days, my Hayward pump trips the breaker after a period of 30 minutes to couple hours of running. It restarts OK immediately after resetting the breaker.

It tripped the first time a few weeks ago after the flexible pipe coming from the pool disconnected and the pump was covered in water. That sounded odd to me, as the pump can normally function under the rain.

The pump must be 5+ years old, but it was gifted to me used 2 years ago by a friend. Been working fine until now.

Also, it's been noisier since i started it this season (6 weeks ago) than previous season.

Any idea ? Thanks!
Guillaume

Water could have been sprayed into the motor casing and gotten water on the winding and bearings. The casing will protect from normal rainfall, but water being forcefully sprayed into the casing is a different matter. You will need to check the electrical draw on the motor. I'll ask for someone more experienced with motors to look at this thread.
