I bought one of the 'Diver Dan' automatic Hayward pool vacs about three years ago. At first it seemed to work OK, nothing really impressive, but the past few years it has gotten to the point where the thing isn't even moving when i hook it up to the skimmer. Not sure if I'm just doing something wrong or if the vacuum just isn't that good to begin with. I'm hooking the hose for the vaccum to the skimmer --via a skimmer connector (see pic below).

Figured i have to be doing something wrong--but if not--is there a better solution out there? I actually had my shop vac hooked up to a manual vacuum brush that I have and that worked great aside from pulling up gallons of water at a time.
