Hi All,
My hayward 1.5 HP super pump is humming prior to kicking on. Once on it is perfectly fine and does a great job. This morning when I went to turn it on ....this time it hummed but did not kick on. I kept it off for a couple minutes and tried again. This time it hummed for about 5 seconds and started up fine. I'm just wondering what causes the humming noise and what I can do to get rid of it.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!

Probably the start capacitor is going bad. You actually may have two caps (start & run), one behind the motor cover and one under a hump on top of the motor. Just depends on your model motor. But if you turn off power and gain access to the cap(s), take a pic of the model info and order one online. They are fairly cheap and relatively easy to install. A quick search on YouTube and you'll see what I mean.
