Good morning!

New pool owner here- I apologize for the very rookie question, but I've googled and googled and I can't find an answer. I have a Triton II sand filter with a side mount older Hayward multiport valve. A few days ago, it started leaking from a small crack near one of the screws, first just a few drips and now its noticeable enough to drip on the floor and cause a puddle over hours of running in filter mode. I'm working on getting it fixed but parts take a while to come in. I'm worried about not running the filter for the time that it takes to fix it- what do others do when this is happening? Would I put anything at risk running the filter while I'm waiting for replacement parts and a fix? Are there any basic steps anyone can recommend to hold me over while waiting?

Thank you for your help!

Welcome to TFP.

If the leak gets too large and you decide to shutdown the pump and filter then pour 5ppm of liquid chlorine in the pool daily and stir it with your pool brush.

Thank you so much! Running on recirculate seems to slow the leak, so that's what I'll do until parts get here. If tomorrow it seems to be steadily getting worse, pool brush circulation it is. I very much appreciate it!
