Do you have automation?
A Nidec Neptune NPTT165 motor will replace the motor you have now and work very similar in terms of programming, etc.
If you have automation, a Century EVC165 will work and communicate with it.
A GO KIT 3 will have the needed shaft seal, O ring, gaskets, etc.
Any shop/service company that says a Hayward-pump motor can't be replaced should be avoided at all costs.
If you are considering a new VSP, look into a Waterway Power Defender. They use the Nidec motors. They make a 1.65 and 2.7 model.
Hello!

For a Hayward SP3202VSP, do you know if the Century EVC165 will work? I have automation by relays on pool/spa mode.

The Century V-Green evo might work.

Does the customer have automation?

If yes, what automation?

Do you not want to use the Hayward motor?

If no, why not?

The Hayward price is ridiculous.

You can get a whole pump for the price of the Power End.

Hello!

That Hayward pump is a 1.85THP pump/impeller. The Century 165 is a 1.65THP motor. EVC motors won't work on a TriStar. You need EVQ. Better to get the EVQ225 to be sure you won't overload the motor.
Which automation are you looking to use it with? The new ones will communicate with Hayward, Jandy, Pentair if it is new enough.
There is no indication of relay control in the manual other than turning it on and off and allowing the internal programs to run, and they are limited to those, though there is probably one that would suit your use.
The Nidec Neptune motor allows for relay control. Pages 26, 27 of the owner's manual has directions.

The pump uses a SPX3210C Impeller, which is used on a 1.65 HP max rated Tristar, so Hayward does install a 1.65 HP motor using that impeller, so a 1.65 HP VS motor should work.

The 1.5 HP (1.65 total hp) Max rate Tristar pump is the same exact pump as the 1.0 hp (1.85 total hp) full rated Tristar, so I think that the 1.85 number is really a false number.
