This past week I got to try out my Hayward 144btu low ambient heat pump. The temps were low 70s in the day and low 50s at night. I had my pool temperature set at 85. It easily maintained temperature at night, it did not have to run continuous, it would cycle on and off as needed. There were many times i went out 2-3am and the heat pump was not running with the pool at 84-85.
By maintaining the temperature at night the pool would warm up to 89-90 during the day from the sun.
I wanted to share my experience because when I did my research on hp there was the concensus that heat pumps struggle to maintain temperature. We shall see how it does when temps get colder and I'll update this post.
