Hayward H400FDN temperature sensor

I suspect that the gas piping *is* the problem, and I shall have to pony up to have it fixed. When I hold my hand above the operating heater, the hot air/smoke feels *damp*.

When methane (CH4) reacts with oxygen (O2), it produces carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O) through a combustion reaction, with the balanced chemical equation being: CH4 + 2O2 → CO2 + 2H2O.

Expecting the right stuff tomorrow to measure the inlet pressure. Here's a picture of the possible culprit. The utility upgraded the gas meter when we put the pool in. But there is a little tiny 1" pipe between the house stuff and the pool stuff. Also, they
didn't upgrade the earthquake valve.

I do know that combustion produces water. And I wouldn't have worried about the wet smoke if two heaters hadn't died before their time. In addition: I had replaced the gas valve on the old heater about a year ago. And that nice shiny new gas valve was looking all old & surface-corroded. In just a year!
