I’m going to saltwater next year and am going to redo all my plumbing to the pump and filter. Right now my ec65 is on a plastic stand sitting above the pump. My question is do I need that stand? I’m hoping to put a cement pad in and get rid of the plastic stand(is broken in a few places) and just have the filter sit in the pad next to the pump. Is this something that is possible or does the filter have to be above the pump?

I have a Hayward EC 50 for years and the pump sits next to the filter with no problem. My pump connects horizontally to the filter.

I had a nearly identical setup until I replaced all my equipment this year. You don't need the plastic stand. Disconnect everything, get it out of your way and pour your new pad. It would be a great time to plan how and where you want to locate everything before you pour. Can't go too big with the pad.
