Hayward DE or DEP Filter

Good Afternoon TFP,

I’m embarking on a new inground installation. In my contract, I have a DE48 filter included. Pool is going to be roughly 29K gallons. I’m trying to determine the difference between a Hayward DE and a DEP. Something to keep in mind. I am in NY, so my season is somewhat short (Memorial Day to Labor Day).

Should I look to upgrade to a DEP? Looking at the IOM, the head loss is a lot lower than compared to the DE ProGrid. And would you recommend sticking with 48 sq ft or move to something larger?

I would get the DEP filter.

The 48 size should be fine, the 60 size will be better and give you more time between backwashes.
