Hayward CS4030 not filtering

I have an older hayward CS4030 filter and it's letting a lot of smaller particles get through, which is clogging the screen on the salt cell. It's relatively new occurrence. We are now having to clean the salt cell screen daily, and years past it was once a summer (at worse once a month). We cleaned the filters and don't see any obvious holes in them. Recently the plastic top that fits on the pipe and the center of the 4 cartridges has been very difficult to get on and off. Also, I replaced the seal between the top and bottom, and it will randomly leak even after racketing down.

Any suggestions on why stuff is getting past the filter cartridge?

The top manifold can loosen up with older cartridges allowing debris to flow past them. I have used pool lube around the manifold to help seal it along with a short piece of 1/2" PVC in the center of the manifold to keep it from popping up when under pressure.
