I'm probably going to contact Leslie's once I have the pool open towards the end of this month. Having looked at the Saftron styles, I'm leaning towards the Triton. Some of the others just look so much like the typical hotel pool railing to me. But, as mentioned in my previous thread, the issue I'm most concerned about is whether or not it can be installed in such manner as to either clear the edge of the winter cover (and thus not have to remove when closing / reinstall when opening), or else some sort of installation that facilitates doing so without compromising the solidity of the railing. Somehow, taking it on and off just doesn't sound like the best idea.
I had correspondence with Saftron about all this, and the guy mentioned that "any of their return to deck rails (RTD) can be removed for winterization and allow your cover to work". Additionally, he said, "If you are using anchor sockets, you can loosen the wedge bolt to remove the rail and then tighten it when reinstalling the rail. The Triton rails will work as well. The set back for these rails is typically 7-10” so you may not even need to remove your rail for the cover to clear. If you do remove the rail, you may want to consider getting a pair of anchor socket covers. These are sold in pairs and are inserted into the anchors when the rail is not in use. They help to protect the anchors and keep debris from getting inside, making opening your pool easier. The part number is ASC and come in matching colors."
So I think I'll have them do a "site evaluation" and go from there. Biggest issue will be if the setback distance he mentions is enough to clear the edge of the cover. I'm thinking probably not.
