I left my pool for a month and it got lots of algae. Upon returning, I decided to drain half of it first, to reduce CYA from 100. I then added a ton of liquid bleach (and muriatic acid), refilled the pool, and turned on the pump. I didn't prime it in the usual way (didn't have a hose), but by using the valve after the pump to release air. I definitely see more air in the pump viewport than normal, but not a crazy amount. The cartridge filter is showing 10 psi (same as before). I also checked the filters and they didn't look green or dirty. But the water pressure is low: the amount flowing from the spa to the pool is low, and the water pressure coming from the inlets is also low. The valves are all in the correct positions (water flowing in from pool and out to spa and pool).
What might be the cause? This feels urgent, both because I don't want to damage the pump and because I need to clear the algae (and not get more!).
(Another issue with priming is that when I opened the viewport when the water was low, water flooded in — as I would have expected, given that it sits below pool level. I don't understand the instruction to use a hose to fill it. I guess I could close the input and output lines first, but then what's the point of adding water, since it can't go very far? Edit: That must be for pumps that are above pool level.)
Thank,
m
