We have a 6100 gal above ground vinyl pool. Noticed yellow-green areas on most of the floor yesterday (had lots of rain Wed/Thurs/Fri from the tropical storm) with FC 1 and CC 0, per pool math app added 1 gal 10% chlorine to SLAM last night. This morning woke up to less healthy looking algae, FC 5 and CC 0.5. Did another SLAM with 1 gal 10% chlorine per pool math app. Prepared to babysit the pool all day, checked it 3 hours later and FC is 19, CC 0 and pool is just a little cloudy with a very slight yellow-green tinge (can easily see the bottom), no visible algae on bottom. We scrubbed and vacuumed thoroughly last night and this morning. I’ll check levels again in about an hour.

My question is- how can my CC not have risen above normal even though overnight the chlorine was dropping quickly, indicating it was being used? And how can I know that I’m safe to let the FC levels drop if there’s no CC to measure change in?

Thank you!

Current levels (using Taylor k2006):
FC 19
CC 0
Ph 7.2 (it stays relatively low no matter what)
CYA 45
TA 80 (stays towards high end all the time)
