Long story short.
My health has forced me to go back to pucks in a floating feeder. I can’t do the adding of liquid chlorine every 1 or 2 days unfortunately and a salt water chlorinator is not possible right now.
So as expected the ph is low.
Just checking with the pros if borax is the way to go now.

Cc. 4. Will add liquid chlorine tonight
Fc. Less than .05
Ph 7.0. Or less
Ta 40
Cya. 40. Will watch it

Thank you for your help!

You think ph will correct itself while using pucks?
The TA will correct the pH.

If your pH is dropping too low, the TA is too low.

Typically, you need to add about 1 pound of baking soda for every (2) 7 oz tabs that you use.

Bring the TA to 80 ppm with baking soda now and then add 1 pound of baking soda into the pool per every two tabs used in the future.

If you put 4 tabs in the feeder, add 2 pounds of baking soda into the pool and the pH will stay good.

The question asks about using borax. Somewhere the internet said if it's very low like 40, first raise it some with borax, then use baking soda at a later time or something. Is there a specific time when it's appropriate to begin to raise the alkalinity with borax?

Borax is to raise pH. In nearly all cases, use Baking Soda. If the TA is in the upper double digits, the pH will be fine.
Baking Soda = big TA change, small pH change
Borax = Big pH change, small TA change
Washing Soda = big pH change, big TA change. Probably more TA change than you want.
