Gunk...

Embarrassing update that led to these problems and a partial drain! (wife complained about me being out working on the pool so much- then she mentioned she put a "little" stuff in late august and early September when the water appeared a little cloudy)
-Clorox algaecide and clarifier from Lowe's added (not sure which time frame but I will guess the above week or two)

-pool time super water clarifier from Home Depot (found a 32 ounce bottle in the outside trash can)

With those above I feel the "slippery" feeling like having tons of sunburn lotion or tanning lotion on the floor of the pool when vacuuming and cleaning mid august to Labor Day was due to high CYA as I've read and read as much as I can since joining this forum.

Then myself using a floater with chlorine tabs adding to that situation. 😬😬

The slippery is not the products. The slippery is algae.

Follow the SLAM process and it will clear all the products added, and kill the algae.

Print these instructions out. Read them 3 times and keep them with you. Having hard copy really helps.

I've got those screenshot and probably have read them 12 times today and the same yesterday. Absorbed into the brain 😁

Lost 1.6 overnight FC.
Not too bad. Based on that FC result, it appears you may be using Taylor's 25 ml sample size and multiplying by 0.2. It's very specific and requires a bit more powder. Instead you can do the following:

Use a 10 ML water sample with ONE generous scoop of powder. Mix and add drops until clear. Take that result and divide in half (0.5). Example: 24 drops equals an FC of 12. That method is accurate enough and may save you some reagent.

While the slam is going on- can I add suggested calcium chloride (34 pounds) for the CH, 11 pounds of borax for the PH, and reduce the TA with M.A?
Your CH is just fine, I'd leave it. What is your fill water TA and CH? CH can only be removed by replacing water. As you add water because of evaporation and loss, your CH will rise.
pH test is invalid when FC >= 10. If pH is in the 7s, it is ok, don't mess with it. pH naturally rises over time. Unless your pH is in the 6s, I would never use anything to RAISE pH.
When you add MA it reduces pH and TA. If you add MA, you would reduce your pH. Adding Borax and MA counteract each other.

You make no other adjustments than FC while doing SLAM.

TA-140
CH-280
PooL math app showed recommendations of 70 for TA and 500 for CH. But fine in their "range" it is calculating.

^^^This is why you don't want to raise your CH. With fill water at 280, it will raise on its own. 200-250 is just fine, no need to raise it.

TA will come down over time when you add MA. You should only add MA when your pH gets to 8. Then reduce it to 7.4. Rinse repeat. THEN, when your TA gets to 80 or so, then only adjust pH to 7.8 or 7.6. With TA of 60-80, pH should be somewhat stable around 7.8. The only impact of a 140 TA is that your pH will rise faster...no real other impact.

Post some pics of the pool condition during your slam. We love pics!!!

While you are waiting to do your next FC test...
Fill out your signature with pool, pool equipment (including manufacturers and model numbers) and test kit info.
This assists us in providing you will help specific to your pool without needing to ask you each time.

I thought I had that already. Clicked the link. But now it didn't save. But I believe it's there since I did it again under my profile. Hope it's better.

For some reason recent logs isn't showing the last.
