Grout Cracks under coping/above tiles

Hi all, would like some help on how to repair the cracks that I have around the pool

I've purchased Perma Tile Grout Waterproof (someone recommended to use this on a website that I found a few months ago -before I found TFP)
https://www.amazon.com/Perma-Tile-Grout-Waterproof-Professionals/dp/B00627WF2G
and backer rod https://www.homedepot.com/p/M-D-Building-Products-1-2-in-x-20-ft-Caulk-Backer-Rod-71480/202066515

Are these the correct products for me to use?
If so, how do I use the tile grout (I've also purchased stucco color so it doesn't dry bright white). We read the instructions and tried some out but not sure if it was done correctly (and then I powerwashed the under side so I think I may have zapped what we put on off)
And I think the backer rod we just cut it to size and fill the large gaps/holes.

Thanks for your help!
Judy

Not sure you need backer rod, just fill the gaps completely with grout/mortar. Looking at your mortar joint, however, it might be time to have that entire joint scraped out and redone. It's beginning to look rather tired.

Absolutely agree.

Judy, you are chasing a moving target if you just "patch" the voids...you can do what you need to do for a temp patch. But since it all looks pretty old, cracked and faded, going w all new grout would surely eliminate the "matching the grout" issue....

If you go the way of replacing everything, have the person [or yourself] buy extra so you can save it when needed [no matching issue]. But, you have to double-bag it and put it into a very tight container to keep moisture and other away or it will get hard as a rock - Good luck Judy and welcome !!!

What product would you use to replace everything? (would the perma tile grout that I purchased work?)
Also when you say replacing it, does that means I will have to break/chip away at the existing grout? (sorry I don't have my husband here with me and I just want to make sure I know what part you are talking about-and also the mortar joints is the top part of the coping?)

Thanks!
