Green pool..need advice

I was away, and then had an impeller problem, and unfortunately my inground pool turned swampy green.

I've been brushing, adding liquid chlorine, and running the motor. After 5 hours pressure gets so high I need to backwash. Been doing this for 2 days so far.

My question involves the frequent backwashing. I'm guessing I have no choice but to backwash, and so I'll lose chlorine i just added.

Testing the water, it shows no stabilizer..but if I add stabilizer I' not supposed to backwash for a week. How do I do that? What should I sacrifice? How do I continue to filter and backwash, yet add Stabilizer at the same time?
 
That is why we use the sock method. Put the CYA in a sock and suspend it in front of a return or in the skimmer basket. Massage it to get it dissolved quickly.
 
We recommend putting the CYA granules in a sock, hanging in front of the deep end return. That way
it will not all backwash out. Give it a good squeeze and move the granules around in the sock
with your hand massaging the sock for a few minutes, about every 15 minutes and it will
all be dissolved in about an hour. (that's how I do it)

You won't lose much if any CYA even with the back washing because it's not all in the filter.
 
Used the sock, shocked and backwashed many times, and 2 weeks later my water is clear. However, Algae keeps creeping back on my walls every 2 days or so.

I just took apart and cleaned my filter. PH is 7.6, and chlorine is 2. I need to chock, add phosfree and add an algaecide over the next few days. What is the correct sequence to do this in?
 
What is your CYA? That determines the minimum FC you should have at all times in the pool.

You don't need to do any of those things. If you have algae, follow the SLAM process. After you pass the finishing criteria, it's back to the FC/CYA chart for your targets/minimums.
