Hi! I live in Northern Indiana. This is our 5th season with our pool. I am embarrassed to say I didn't discover this sooner. For 3 days, I have been following the advice, and using the app to track my pool.

I am frustrated. I have done the things the app tell me to do.

Today, I leaned what the SLAM method is all about. I have a green pool with algae. I know these things take patience, and time. My question is, I followed the advice off the app after testing. When I checked my levels again, I feel like they are haywire.

Latest test:
FC 39
CC .01
PH 8.0
ALK 90
CYA 60

Does anyone have any suggestions? Or do I just wait it out?

Welcome to TFP! The experts here will get you cleaned up! Yep! It’s SLAM time. But you missed an important crucial step. You didn’t lower your pH before starting the SLAM. Once you have a high chlorine level, the pH test can be inaccurate.

For 3 days, I have been following the advice,
What’s the advice?

The last advice said to add 2 gallons of liquid chlorine to bring my FC to 24, but I far surpassed that to 39.
Oh you mean the recommendations in the app?
I’m not seeing all these additions and measurements in your logs. I see from you latest logs you had 8.0 pH for two days. So was it really 7.4 this morning? Then why was it 8.0 yesterday?

@louloubell08 Do Not Feel Embarrassed! The important thing is you found TFP! Take a deep breath, the experts will guide you to a solution to your situation. :snorkle:

2 gallons of liquid chlorine would not have raised the FC of a 22,000 gallon pool by 39 ppm. It's impossible, so we need to figure out where something went haywire. How confident are you in your pool water volume?

As for the pH, it is thrown off by a high FC level. Ignore it for now. I don't think you've indicated, how are you testing your water?

I'm not sure. Everything I have done the past 4 seasons was not working. I have been going through a vicious cycle of trying to get my levels under control. This lead me to try and figure things out on my own. I was using muriatic acid to lower my PH. I would get my PH low, and then I had no FC, and my CC was not 0.

I took my pool water to the store and had it tested last Friday. One of the guys there said to use dry acid instead of the muriatic acid bc my ALK was fine. So, I thought I was rounding the corner, and getting somewhere. Over the weekend I kept bouncing back and forth between my levels again.

This all lead me here to TFP, I got the app, and started logging my tests. I *thought* I was logging what I had added as well, but perhaps I have not been.

Also, thank you for your help!

Are you using a 10 ml sample? Each drop would be .5.

So FC of 39 would be 78 drops.

What a nice way of asking that question. 😃. I hope confident. 😅. I have a 30' round above ground pool that is 52" deep.
