Been taking care of the same pool for 10 years. Been through all of the stages: clear, cloudy, dirty, clean, green. Honestly, I barely put any work/understanding into it. But this year it got away from me. Pretty sure pea soup was more translucent than my pool.
Nothing was working this time -- shock, algae killers, flocculants, yelling at it -- nothing. I swore I was breading a new type of resistant-to-everything algae. With the drain plug chain in hand, a friend told me about TFP and decided to try the SLAM technique. It's working!!! After a week and a half, I can see the steps of the pool again. It's no longer green -- the algae has lost.
But I have more challenges to overcome: high CYA (67 ppm), Ca level too high, low alkalinity, high pH. All in good time and hopefully good advice from TFP (and not that "store" which mislead me twice).
