Test kit results did not pick up any copper at all. Thinking this could have been some fertilizer that was on his coat. I have no other explanation. Thanks for the help (and laughs).

No color change huh? Hopefully that's a good sign. Still, make sure to update y our signature with all of your pool and equipment info. You can also post a full set of water test results with your TF-100 or Taylor K-2006C test kit just so we can confirm that everything should be fine in regards to the heater. Perhaps the discoloration was related to the yard work.
Thought I had the pool info in my sig, I guess it was just in the "about me". It's moved now. Latest result from the app below. I recently upped my SWG to bring my FC up a bit, especially with the dog in there. Can't seem to get TA to lower. I've tried bringing the PH down and aerating but didn't seem to move the TA much. It's new plaster so I'm constantly battling PH. I am hoping TA will lower over time as I keep adding acid to keep the PH in check. I'm sure the TA is contributing somewhat to my PH rise.

Those are pretty good numbers, and as long as they pH was never below 7.0, I think we can rule out the heater. Like you said, new plaster will require more attention for the pH, but it will stabilize over time. For the TA, if you still want it to come down, wait until the pH hits 7.8-8.0 then hit it with enough acid to pull the pH down to 7.0-7.2. The pH won't be there long. You should see better results on the TA that way.
