Green Cloudy Pool/Passed OCLT Test

I noticed on Saturday my pool seemed to have quite a bit of dirt on the bottom so I swept it but it continued to get cloudier each day and yesterday I noticed it was pretty green. I have not noticed an unusual loss of FC since opening in the spring but we have had an unusually hot and humid summer this year. I have been running with my FC at 5 with a CYA of 40 with no issues prior to this.

Yesterday day morning I tested with my TF 100 kit:
FC = 4 via pool math added liquid chlorine to bring it up to 6
pH = 7.2
CC = 0
TA = 100
CYA = 40

I decided to go ahead with the SLAM to 16 ppm (using the Pool Math app) in the afternoon to see if there is a hidden issue. I didn't have the pump shut off so it has been running for almost 24 hours. I tested the water at dusk last night and FC = 10ppm. I tested again before sunrise this morning and FC = 10 so it passed the OCLT test. I did go ahead this morning and add liquid chlorine to take it back up to FC=16 but that doesn't appear to be the problem.

The pool is still pretty cloudy/greenish and I could barely start seeing the bottom. I was thinking about ordering some additional liquid chlorine but decided I needed to reach out to the experts before I did! The look of the pool brought back to me the memory of when I converted from Bacquacil in 2017. Since that conversion I don't recall ever having an issue with cloudy water or much of anything to do with problems with my pool water.

My pool steps were pulled out last Saturday because the weather here is turning cooler and I wanted to start getting things in order to close the pool as soon as the water temp gets into range. I still have my solar cover on and I will probably have to get a leaf net over the pool shortly. As soon as it gets lighter out, I will partially roll back the solar cover and get some pictures to attach to this post. This is a picture from yesterday

Suggestions?

While it may seem unusual to pass the OCLT and still have algae, I think you should continue with the SLAM Process. The cloudiness confirms something is brewing and the sooner you resolve it the better your closing process will be. I would also leave that cover off. It's very possible something from under that cover is adding to the organic problem in the water. You might need to clean it really well. Good you removed those steps. Those may have been an issue as well.
