Hey there so i purchased the taylor k2006 to test my water and here are the results, where do i go from here? my pool has been cloudy since i opened it in may. it has gotten better. It was a swap when we opened it but it needs help. I have been putting in 2 gal of shock everyday due to chlorine loss. This morning i added ph down because it was very high. Also, added a cup of DE to my sand filter yesterday night to help relieve the cloudiness. Had to backwash this morning around 8 am. Filter has been running since yesterday morning.

FC- 7.5ppm
CC- 1ppm
PH- 7.8
TA- 140ppm
CH- 100ppm
CYA- 25ppm

Congrats on the K-2006! :goodjob: Next step .... SLAM! Here's how:
1. Lower pH some more to about 7.2. You can use whatever you have left over, or pick-up some muriatic acid which works great and is usually cheaper. Confirm it's at about 7.2 after about 20-30 minutes of mixing on high.
2. We'll round-up the CYA to 30, although I'd feel better if that dot disappeared for sure at 30. Anything below 30 and it gets dicey about estimating. So 30 is the real goal.
3. Increase FC to "12" which is the SLAM level. Liquid shock (aka regular bleach) is the prescription 24/7 until you pass the 3 SLAM criteria (link below in my sig). Read that page carefully and you'll do fine. Good luck!

Thank You! So I am assuming that no one can swim while I SLAM the pool. should i keep adding chlorine until after the 4th since i will be having family over. Also since my CYA level is low should i use Dichlor since it raise the cya level and drops PH?

You CAN swim while in SLAM mode as long as you can see the bottom and don't exceed the SLAM FC level - in your case 12. If you 'd like to add some dichlor to help get that CYA up slightly, that's fine, but for the typical FC level throughout the day, bleach is usually more accurate and easier to work with. If you wish to let the FC drop to about 8 or so while family is swimming, it won't hurt the overall SLAM progress either. Just make sure to increase it back to 12 once everyone is done.

The cloudiness is almost certainly related to the algae (or dead algae) as the chlorine works on it. No worries. Keep brushing everything and moving water around so that eventually the filter catches all the dead algae. It may just take a little time, but it will get there. It's all part of the SLAM.

the cloudyness the algae that died from the chlorine and the chlorine "bleaches" it white like he said stick with the slam, sometime if i know i cant check the pool ill take it up to the "mustard shock" levels usaly after 2-3 days of that the pool will clear up

you have 5 days till the 4th if you stay on top of it you should have clear pool

vaccum to waste and replacing some water can really help also (make sure to check all levels and re balance after)
