Good or bad idea to use Algaecide with the TFP (or BBB) method?

Contains 23.5% Copper Triethanolamine Complex (7.1% Metallic copper equivalent) as the active ingredient

Copper is bad in pools. There is no reason to use algaecides, if you have algae you should SLAM. Can you post some test results?

With a green pool (after opening for the spring), should algaecide be used along with the TFP or BBB method? How about this algaecide? http://a.co/hutLgI3
Short answer: No.

Algaecides work better as a preventative than as a cure, in much the same way that cleaning with Lysol stops the spread of colds but drinking it after you have a cold doesn't cure it.

As for that specific algaecide: Heck no! It has copper in it. Bad idea. Leads to metal stains on pool walls, green hair on kids, and the extra expense of metal sequestrants. If you are a belt-and-suspenders type of person, then Poly 60 is the stuff. But again, it won't cure the green.

Bleach cures green. How to do it is explained in SLAM Process
