I am new to pool care and not doing so well especially with the insane chlorine prices this year so at the moment my pool is green and I hope to learn enough here to fix that affordably.
I am in southwest OK and I came up with Cloudy R718 because R718 is the refrigerant number for water and my water is cloudy. 😁
I am currently comparing prices and effectiveness of liquid chlorine dosing with a pump or a salt system. Since tablet prices have launched into another galaxy.

Prices are indeed out of control. Do your best and follow the SLAM Process to get rid of that algae. If you have any questions let us know. Welcome to TFP!

Thanks. This site looks really good.

Part of my problem is last year I was using tablets and I bought an inline chlorinator that I plumbed in after the pump and it didn't last. It quickly started leaking and then clogged so this year I hadn't really figured out how to chlorinate the pool other than dumping in liquid chlorine every now and then. I am hoping to get a liquid chlorine pump set up soon but I was also looking at salt. I will probably just stick with liquid unless salt is way cheaper because neither my wife or I like the feel of salt pool water.

Once done with SLAM you will need on a 10K gallon pool around half gallon of 10% LC per day. Dose the pool at evening to take the most of the FC. Keep your FC on or above target all times and you won’t have algae ever again. See FC/CYA Levels

For the SLAM (and normal maintenance) you are going to need a reliable test kit. Either a K-2006C or a TF-100 will do, but the TF-100 is definitely more affordable.

You can download and use PoolMath as reference or just post your numbers and someone will help you.
